Where The BTBA Tenpintour came from and where its going
THE BEGINNINGS
The first Tenpintour event was the Berkshire Senior Open which took place in 2011. Matchpoint Tours had run the tour with expertise and professionalism ever since Angie Brown and Robert Marchant won that first event. Matchpoint Tours had built up a very popular and exciting tour, enjoyed by up a large pool of senior bowlers who met, made good friends and were able to enjoy good healthy competitive bowling. In 2016 Matchpoint Tours decided that they could no longer support the tour. However Matchpoint Tours had demonstrated that senior bowlers will come together for tournament bowling if the atmosphere and rewards are there for them to enjoy. This is precisely the void that the new BTBA Tenpintour has filled, with serious consideration to the comments and suggestions made by the members. All of the people running the tour are competitors or well respected members of the BTBA Council . A tour run by bowlers for bowlers under the umbrella of the BTBA on a tried and trusted format.
We are now at the end of 2022 with three years of Covid behind us. Nevertheless we have a full programme lined up for 2023. We are very pleased that Dave Steiners first year back at the helm has proved a success. Liz and Ron Griffin took a back seat last year, but stepped up to run this years BTBA Tenpintour British Masters, which they did with customary expertise.
As a result of the survey posted at the end of last year, the changes announced at The Masters Banquet in Stroud will be implemented next year. The details of which can be found on the rules tab, on the home page.

THE FUTURE
The future of the tour is in the hands of us, its members, and we anticipate that we will continue the atmosphere of friendly competition that has always defined the tour. The format this year will revert to six straight games with no final. Every new member who registers adds to the pool of people with ideas to improve the tour. There is a contact form where ideas, suggestions and criticisms are welcomed. Your positive feedback will be used as fuel to drive the tour in the right direction ensuring that we remain current and vibrant. All Criticisms and complaints will be acted upon, with the objective of keeping members satisfied and to prevent any oversights or errors re-occurring .
SIGNIFICANT CHANGES
There is no central full time staffed office to oversee the tour, each tournament will be run as an individual event by The Tenpintour Team. The records of each tournament, Averages, OOM and future dates will all be kept up to date on this website. The 2023 season will see some changes to the rules brought about after consultation with the members of the tour. The calendar feature we have been using over the years is being incorporated with the results feature on the home page. Squad times will appear on the entry pages and again on the squad lists when they are published.
ENTRY FEES
The new entry fee is £55 per event because of the higher lineage fees we are being charged by bowling centres.
THE SHOWPIECE EVENT
We will be enjoying our usual very popular three day bowling extravaganza at the conclusion of the season which will be open to anybody that has competed in a minimum of any five B.T.B.A. Tenpintour events over the course of the season. The top places in the Order Of merit tables will be rewarded with a cocktail of cash, free entries and hotels for their efforts. There will be multiple re entry opportunities, The name of our showpiece event will continue to be known as
THE BTBA TENPINTOUR BRITISH MASTERS
All the details of which appear on the MASTERS button on the SCHEDULE/ENTRY page later in the year.
COMMUNICATION

If you are unhappy with anything during the course of an event, speak to the tournament manager first, and if necessary use the contacts page to bring it to our attention. If we are not aware of problems we cannot address them. All criticisms and complaints will be acted upon, with the objective of keeping the tour running smoothly and to prevent any oversights or errors re-occurring.

RULES OF PLAY
Click on the above RULES OF PLAY for a link to the rules, These are the general rules of play that apply to all tournaments. There will be no need to issue sudden changes of rules or conduct, because everything is already covered. There maybe reminders of existing rules if we receive complaints about persistent infractions. The rules are there to ensure that all competitors bowl on the same terms, and because we are all senior bowlers, we should all be familiar with them. So we must respect our fellow bowlers by respecting the rules of play that have been formulated over many, many years by The B.T.B.A. and The Tenpintour for our benefit.
